Born in the small mountain village of Ardesio in the Orobie Alps of northern Italy, Milva Bigoni has spent her life exploring the world, discovering ancient cultures, and learning from different traditions. Since 1995, travel has been both her passion and her profession, taking her across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas.
Milva has a particularly deep connection with Nepal, which she has visited 27 times over the past 30 years. Her journeys have taken her through some of the country’s most remarkable regions, including Dolpo, Mustang, the Annapurna region, Manaslu, Tsum Valley, Langtang, and Everest Base Camp. She has also crossed Thorong La Pass and reached the summit of Island Peak at 6,189 metres. Her extensive experience in Tibet and Bhutan further deepens her understanding of Himalayan culture and spirituality.
For ten years, Milva worked as a tour leader for an Italian travel agency, guiding journeys across numerous international destinations, including Mongolia, China, India, Sri Lanka, Greenland, India and Egypt. Her travels have given her a broad appreciation of different cultures, traditions, and ways of life.
Alongside her travel career, Milva has devoted herself to natural health and traditional wellness practices. She earned a diploma in Naturopathy from the Riza Institute in Milan in 2004, with her thesis completed at a hospital in Thimphu, Bhutan. Her areas of expertise include Chinese medicine, reflexology, kinesiology, bioenergetics, Reiki, and Maharishi Ayurveda. She is also an instructor at the Maharishi Ayurveda Academy in Verona, Italy.
For the past 30 years, Milva has organized courses and sessions on wellness, yoga, meditation, mindfulness, and traditional healing practices. She also runs NAMASTE, an herbal and natural foods shop in her hometown of Ardesio for ten years.
At Himalayan Leaders, Milva brings together her extensive travel experience, deep interest in ancient cultures, and knowledge of wellness traditions. Her connection with the Himalayas goes beyond the destinations themselves, reflecting a lifelong interest in the people, spirituality, and traditions that make this region so special.
