Botanical Excursion; T.G. Long staff and Frank Smythe discovered the Valley of Flowers in 1931. More than a thousand varieties of flowers, ferns, and Himalayan herbs grow in the valley. The most beautiful of all Himalayan flowers, the Blue Primula can be seen blooming in the valley. To reach the valley one has to trek from Govindghat on the route to Hemkund Sahib up to Ghangharia, 12 km. ahead. A few furlongs ahead of Ghangharia, the trek route to the valley takes a detour towards the left. The valley is at a distance of 5 km from Ghangharia.
