Langtang and Gosainkunda are the most popular trekking routes in Nepal. Nepal is centrally located north of Kathmandu and offers a multitude of trekking destinations, all accessible without flights. Langtang is a narrow valley that lies just south of the Tibetan border. So, it is between the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. Langtang Lirung (7246m) dominates the valley to the north. Mount Gang Chhenpo (6388m) and Naya Kangri (5846m) lie to the south.

Similarly, Dorje Lakpa (6966m) protects the valley's east end. Nepal designated the area as its first Himalayan national park in 1971. While on the Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking, trekkers can enjoy some of the best sceneries. You will travel through the off-the-beaten paths while passing through the rhododendron, oak, and pine forests. You can also pass through Langtang National Park and Shivapuri National Park. Our 17-day Langtang Gosaikunda Trekking is an awe-inspiring journey. With this package, trekkers can explore two beautiful destinations in the Langtang region.

Langtang Gosaikunda Trek Route

The trek begins with a 6-hour drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. This scenic drive takes the trekkers to the northwestern hills of Kathmandu, where they can witness mountains like Annapurna, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, and others. Likewise, the drive takes you through the deep land of Trishuli Bazaar, Betrawati, and Dhunche.

From Syabbrubesi, the trail crosses through the Bhote Koshi River and follows the Langtang Khola. Similarly, you will travel through the sub-tropical forests of oak, maple, fir, blue pin, and rhododendrons. After a gentle descent, you will reach Rimche and go to the Lama Hotel.

The trek route to Langtang village starts with a gentle climb. However, the trail soon becomes steep and leads to a log bridge. Then, you must ascend as the valley opens into a classical U-shaped glacial. After crossing a stream and climbing past several water-driven mills and prayer wheels, you will reach Langtang. The houses in the village have Tibetan architecture with carved-driven windows.

The trail to Kyanjing Gompa requires you to climb a ridge and cross several small streams. As you get closer to the Kyanjin Gompa village, you will encounter a monastery and dramatic icefall. Situated at 4,350 meters, Kyanjing Ri is the highest point of the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek. It provides panoramic views of the mountains of Tibet.

You must retrace your trail to the Lama Hotel from Kyanjing Gompa. From there, you will pass by old houses arranged along a high ridge, monasteries, and stupas as you reach ThuloSyabru. As you leave the village of ThuloSyabru, you will climb through gompa, school, and army post. The trail becomes steep and then goes through forests, passing an old chorten before reaching Cholangpati.

The trail from Cholangpati enters into the Gosaikunda protected area. You will see Langtang Lirung from the north and Himchuli and Manaslu from the west. Likewise, you will cross high-altitude summer pastures and cross the ridge. The trail becomes narrower as you get closer to Gosaikunda. When you finally reach the sacred Gosaikunda, you will also see a large stone Shiva lingam.

As you leave the Gosaikunda, the trail alongside the lake ascends towards the Laurebina Pass. From then onwards, the trail begins to descend steeply and gradually. You will trek through the pine and rhododendron forests and cross several streams and waterfalls before reaching Tharepati.

The trail continues to descend and pass through rhododendron forests as you trek to Kutumsang. Then, you will head towards Chispani, viewing the snow-capped mountains.
