14 Days Annapurna Circuit Mountain bike

The Annapurna Circuit Mountainbike tour is a great challenge to complete. Annapurna Circuit, one of Nepal's most famous trekking routes, lies within the Annapurna Conservation Area near the belt of Tibet. The trip route lies close to the Marsyangdi and Kali Gandaki River valleys. This is not easy riding as the route suddenly rises to an altitude of 5,416m at the Throng-La Pass. But it is an exciting, beautiful, adventurous spot well suited to skillful mountain bikers.

The panoramic range of the majestic snow-clad mountains over 8,000 meters reflects one of the rarest views of the bike toppers at the top. The Annapurna Circuit Mountainbike route is not 100% rideable along the entire trip. So, we have arranged sufficient helpers who need to carry bikes and luggage in some parts, such as up and down hills and the challenging remote trails blocked by huge boulders.

What To Expect During Annapurna Circuit Mountainbike Tour?

Annapurna Circuit Mountainbike Tour is an adventurous and challenging experience. It lets you explore the beauty of the Annapurna region. The route involves diverse landscapes, terraced fields, charming villages, and high-elevation passes. Bikers will ride through forests of rhododendrons, oaks, and alpine meadows. Similarly, the trail also requires ascending and descending on varied terrains.

Along the trail, bikers will pass by charming villages, sacred temples, ancient monasteries, tea houses, and lodges. Likewise, the scenery is breathtaking. Bikers can witness the magnificent Annapurna Massif, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, and many more. The route also goes through Annapurna Conservation Areas, where bikers can witness diverse flora and fauna.

Annapurna Circuit Mountainbike Tour is also the best way to explore the region’s culture, tradition, history, and local customs. Moreover, you can also taste the local cuisine and experience warm hospitality.

Bicycles must be ready to undertake physical and mental challenges. The route will test their endurance and stamina. Equipment and gear preparation is also crucial for safety purposes. There is also the risk of altitude sickness while en route.

Hence, proper precautions and acclimatization are important to reduce the risk of altitude sickness. The Annapurna Circuit Mountain Bike Trek is difficult, but it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Best Season for Annapurna Circuit Mountain Biking

The best season for Annapurna Circuit mountain biking is Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November). During these times, the weather is usually straightforward, with mild temperatures, making it ideal for biking conditions. Let’s learn each season in brief:

Autumn ( September to November)

During these months, clear skies and mild temperatures offer stunning views of snow-capped mountains and vibrant landscapes. With minimal or no rainfall, there is also no risk of landslides or washed-out roads compared to monsoon season. This pleasant season is perfect for mountain biking, outdoor activities, and sightseeing.

Spring (March to May)

Similar to autumn, this season also welcomes clear skies and mild temperatures. Spring is a season for lush vegetation and blooming flowers, which add scenic beauty to your trip. Also, it is less crowded than autumn, making road biking easy. However, you can encounter some rainfall while biking. Thus, a perfect packing list is essential for making your trek safe and memorable.

Who can go for Annapurna Circuit Mountain Biking?

The Annapurna Circuit mountain biking suits every adventurer with some mountain biking experience. Also, they should be in great physical condition to maintain balance in diverse terrain and altitudes along the route. Also, you should be prepared for long days of riding, varying weather conditions, and basic accommodations.

While previous mountain biking experience is beneficial, the novice traveler can explore this beautiful circuit on a bike with proper preparation, training, and guidance from experienced guides or tour operators. Anyone with a passion for conquering, a love for the outdoors, a sense of adventure, and a willingness to push the limits can enjoy the biking adventure in the Annapurna Circuit.

Permits for Mountain Biking to the Annapurna Circuit

To mountain bike in the Annapurna Circuit, you must have one permit, the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit, and a TIMS Card. These two permits are mandatory. Here is more detailed information on the permits required for the Annapurna Circuit Trek.

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP)

As the Annapurna Circuit trek passes through the Annapurna Conservation Area, getting this permit is mandatory. It helps fund conservation efforts and sustainable tourism initiatives in the region. You can obtain this permit at the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu or at official entry points to the Annapurna Conservation Area.

  • Cost: NPR 3000 per person

TIMS Card

We issue the TIMS card to track trekkers and ensure their safety. You can get this from the Nepal Tourism Board in Kathmandu or any registered trekking agency. The card is usually valid for your trek or bike tour within the designated trekking area. You need a detailed trek itinerary, including the dates and locations, to get this permit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Accommodation

Being a well-established trail, there is no shortage of accommodation options for your tour. The most common accommodation includes tea houses and lodges. They are the most budget-friendly options that provide basic facilities. These lodgings typically feature communal bathrooms and shared rooms. As you ascend higher into the alpine regions, you might find fewer amenities in the lodgings. We will be lodging at tea houses for our 14-day mountain bike tour around the Annapurna Circuit.

The best traditional tea house settlements are in the Annapurna region. These tea houses provide great continental and regional food service, making them suitable for overnight stays. Bicyclists traveling on the clearly marked trails can always enjoy cold and hot showers in a hygienic restroom. Consequently, we won’t need to bring any food or camping gear.
