Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek Route

You will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul, where your trek will begin. You will walk along Modi stream and reach Birethanti village, where you will find many charming tea shops and guest houses. You will continue to head upwards until you reach Ulleri (2,073 meters). The day’s trek will end after you reach Ulleri.

The next day, you will gently climb the trail through pastures and terraced fields. Then, you will travel through the forest of rhododendrons and oaks. You will continue to walk on the trail and reach Ghorepani (2,848 meters). You will stay overnight at Ghorepani.

Early in the morning, you will take an excursion to Poonhill (3,210 meters). You will climb the stairs to reach the viewpoint. You can witness the beautiful sunrise with a mountain view of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Himchuli, Dhaulagiri, and others on the backdrop.

After witnessing the sunrise, we will move to our next destination, Tadapani (2,540 meters). For the first part, you will climb the hills through the rhododendron and pine forests. You will then descend to Banthanti and again start climbing to reach the Tadapani village. We will stay there overnight.

The ascending part has ended, and now you will descend through the forests and terraced fields to reach the Ghandruk village (1,919 meters). While Gandruk is famous for its homestay, we will descend a little further and stay overnight at Landruk (1,646 meters).

After Landruk, it is an easy walk. You will continue walking to the village of Phedi (1,080 meters), where your trek will end. After this, you will drive back to Pokhara, a 2-hour drive.

Day 01:

Day 03:

Kathmandu - Pokhara

Today, we drive to Pokhara (200km) by tourist bus, approximately 7 hours away. While driving, we will see the countryside’s good scenery. We will arrive late afternoon, around 2:00 p.m. Pokhara is an enchanting Himalayan Valley of remarkable beauty.

We can explore its scenic land on bicycle, on foot, or on our own, like boating in Fewa Lake, which overlooks the Annapurna Himalayan ranges. In the evening, we will prepare for the overnight trek in Pokhara.

Day 04:

Drive from Pokhara to Nayapul and trek to Ulleri

Take a short drive from Pokhara to the trek starting point, Nayapul. Then, walk along the Modi stream until you reach Birethanti, a beautiful village with plenty of tea shops and guest houses. We then follow the left route through the town.

Our trek will continue heading to Ulleri following the bank of the Burungdi stream. We climb slightly up to the valley of Hile (1495 meters) and Tikhedhunga (1540 meters). The trail leads steeply up to Ulleri (2000 meters), a large, beautiful Magar village, through the stone slabs. Generally, today’s trek offers you a memorable trekking experience in Nepal.

Day 05:

Ulleri to Ghorepani

On this day, the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields from the village. There are magnificent rhododendrons and oak forests—a lunch spot in Nangethanti.

Thanti is a Nepali word meaning “rest house.” In the winter, snow can cover the trail. From Nangethanti, it is about an hour’s walk to Ghorepani at 2860m. Arrive at the top of the Ghorepani Pass and camp there. Overnight in Ghorepani.

Day 06:

Ghorepani – Poon Hill - Tadapani

We will wake up early morning to hike up to the famed vantage point of Poon Hill excursion at 5 AM. You can hear the sounds of all tourists preparing for the pre-dawn assault on Poon Hill. The journey climb to Poon Hill (3210m.) takes around one and half hours.

As the sun rises, the views are breathtaking. A vast Himalayan panorama stretching from Dhaulagiri, 8167 m (the world’s seventh highest peak), to Manaslu, 8156m (the world’s eighth highest peak) in the east, with the mighty Annapurna range in between them, is visible.

Then we will return to our camp and have time for breakfast. The first part is climbing along the ridges of the hills in pine and rhododendron forest to a top of 3030 meters, then descending to a second pass, also called Deurali. The steep descent becomes a gentle way to reach Banthanti, where we will stop for Lunch.

From Banthanti, the trail follows the stream down to a bridge, where it starts climbing to Tadapani (2630 meters), which offers a brief view of the mountains. Tadapani means “Far water.” The village water supply is a long distance away; it takes porters more than an hour to fetch a load of water. overnigt at Tadapani.

Day 07:

Tadapani - Landruk

It takes about 7 hours. From Tadapani, the trails descend through forests and terraced fields to the Khummr Khola. The Ghandruk trail descends steeply from Tadapani through a forest of tree species and rhododendrons. We will stop for lunch at Ghandruk.

Ghandruk (1919 m.) is the most interesting tribal Gurung village in Nepal, which has provided Gorkha soldiers. It has excellent close-up views of Annapurna South, Machhapurchhe, and Himachuli.

There is an ACAP office that provides information about its activities. From Ghandruk, the trails lead down to Modi Khola and climb to Landruk, a Gurung village at 1646 meters. Stay overnight at Landruk.

Day 08:

Landruk - Pokhara

From Landruk, it’s an easy walk on flat fields and descends to Tolka, a small settlement at 1,710 meters, with several lodges along the trails. Now, the trail climbs through the forests, and after crossing a stream on a suspension bridge at 1690 meters, the trail climbs Bheri Kharka.

Again, the trail ascends through forests to a clearing at the top of the hill at 2010 meters, offering views of mountains visible from Deurli and providing a spot for lunch. From Deurali, the road is downhill to Dhampus at 1580 meters, about two and a half hours via Pothana.

At Dhampus, you will receive great views of the mountains. From Dhampus, steeply downhill through the village to Phedi at 1080 meters, it takes about an hours to catch a vehicle to drive to Pokhara.

Day 09:

Pokhara - Kathmandu

From Pokhara, the tourist buses leave early in the morning to Kathmandu. It takes 6/7 hours from Pokhara to Kathmandu. Still, you will have time to walk around Kathnaudu or go shopping.

Day 10:

Transfer to international airport

After breakfast, our staff will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport. We will greet you properly and wish you safe travel.

After checking the availability, you need to fill out the forms and provide your personal details. You can use Himalayan Leaders’ brochures and leaflets or download them. Likewise, you must provide us with a copy of your passport and passport-size photos.

Step 2

After filling out the forms, you will receive a booking confirmation via email. The mail will also contain your detailed tour itinerary. Please cross-check all the details before confirming your booking. You can make corrections if necessary.

Step 3

You need to pay a certain amount after you have confirmed your booking. You need to pay 20% of the total package cost for your trip/ trek to Nepal in advance. Meanwhile, you must pay 25% of the total package cost for your trip to Bhutan, India, and Tibet. The remaining amount should be paid four weeks before your scheduled trip.

Step 4

After we receive the advance payment, you will receive your final booking confirmation. You can relax and prepare for your trip ahead without any worry.
